Another successful authors duo: Chaney & Mixon
Pleasant main characters, very entertaining. Everything there that a science fiction story needs. A captain, a ship, conspiracies, politics, honor, duty enemies. Excellent narration as well.

You had me at greatcoat
Bad actors in the chain of command can be incredibly frustrating but it's always very satisfying when they get put in place. At first I didn't like concept of the asteroid ship very much but it grew on me with how it has been made to run again. Also, again, greatcoat.

Perfect Sci-Fi Story

Annoying
The whole book is about corrupt military officers and how they get away with everything, with every god damn member doing obviously openly illegal stuff all the time and everyone getting away with everything. Only read if you need motivation to commit mass murder of military personell.

Mediocre Military Pseudo-SF
After a n interesting start the story quickly degrades into a collection of clishės: The good guys are all highly competent, honourable and bravely follow the hero without co mplaint, while the villains all are incomptent corrupt cowards. The pacing of the story is ludicrous: For two ceturies the evil aliens have not be seen, yet within a few weeks of the hero taking up his command they suddenly attack ? Also, the described ph ysics are - questionable: A mile-long giganttic space ship accelerates at full speed towards another ship, fights off the aliens, then apparently turns on a dime and turns back the wa,y it came,narrowly escaping the second wave of aliens...
No, this is simply too much to believe. I am not going to buy the rest of the series.
